I know that you are very popular with the Mac, but I am a PC user. I do not know why Scrivener Windows has so many bugs. Mac people say it's an intrinsic issue of the PC.
I could argue this a thousand ways, but let's keep it simple. I am a PC owner, live with it or don't, but stop blaming my computer. There are plenty of programs that work just fine
I started using Scrivener during beta testing. Despite promises of it becoming more stable, it's buggy, buggy. I stopped using it except for one little feature. The name generator. It's the only thing I love about Scrivener anymore.
And I've let Scrivener hang out on my desk top because of the name generator in-spite of this:
Every, every, every time I close out Word, I get this box.
Oh, fine, yes.
And Word is like
Nope, can't do that.
And then Scrivener is like:
And I'm like, well maybe it will bet better. So I download the update.
And then my computer starts to lag, lag, lag.
And then Scrivener has another update because the last update included a bunch of bugs which of course the new update may or may not fix. The great thing about new updates (not)
And Word says;
And now Scrivener is suddenly messing with the normal template of Power Point. Why not Excel as well?
No, no, please don't take me seriously. I'm just grouchy because I've been clicking cancel for the last two years. But not any more. This week I'll be transferring all my old Scrivener files into Word files and then using Revo uninstaller to remove your program for good. It's oddly bitter sweet, because even though I've never known Scrivener without
I remember fondly using it during the beta testing. I thought then that it would solve my organization problems. (I had not yet learned that Word has at least 80% of the features you promote to writers.) In those days I believed the hype and thought it was the program I had waiting for all my writer life.
And that is precisely why deleting it is so very bitter. Instead of a dream come true I got:
And I remember (while reading through the user comments or your message boards) these two writers going back and forth talking about upgrading to 8 and 16 gigs of RAM so Scrivener wouldn't lag. And I remember thinking, I have poster on my 1 gig ram net book. POSER. (For those who don't know, poser is a 3 D rendering software. In other words, its a program that will slow down your little computer... a lot. Or it should.) And my little laptop was running Poser faster than Scrivener. A lot faster. Now I have 4gigs ram on an SSD drive.
For people who have no clue what I'm talking about, lets keep it simple. My computer is fast and powerful... or it was... until I two days ago when I updated Scrivener.
